Public Utilities Act: violations.

The California Constitution establishes the Public Utilities Commission, with regulatory jurisdiction over all public utilities. The Public Utilities Act provides that every person, either individually, or acting as an officer, agent, or employee of a corporation other than a public utility, violating any provision of the act or failing to comply with any part of any order, decision, rule, direction, demand, or requirement of the commission, or procuring, aiding, or abetting any public utility in a violation or noncompliance, in a case in which a penalty has not otherwise been provided, is guilty of a misdemeanor and is punishable by a fine not exceeding $1,000, or by imprisonment in a county jail not exceeding one year, or by both that fine and imprisonment. This bill would make nonsubstantive changes to this provision.
