Public health: neonatal group B streptococcal disease.

Existing law creates in the California Health and Human Services Agency the State Department of Health Care Services, which is vested with specified powers of the former State Department of Health Services. Existing law required the State Department of Health Services, to the extent that funds were available in the department's budget for the 1994–95 fiscal year, to convene a consensus conference to address the issue of testing or treatment to prevent neonatal group B streptococcal disease (chemoprophylaxis) . Existing law required the State Department of Health Services to make every effort to obtain appropriate federal funds for this purpose, if the department determined that state funds were not available. This bill would make technical, nonsubstantive changes to that provision.
