Public contracts: county-owned buildings.

Summary
The Local Agency Public Construction Act provides that for certain alteration or repair work upon county-owned buildings, counties containing a population of 2 million or more are exempt from provisions of the Public Contract Code, requiring construction or repairs exceeding a specified amount upon public buildings to be done by contract, if the cost is under $50,000. This bill would provide that for certain alteration or repair work upon county-owned buildings, counties containing a population of 5 million or more are exempt from provisions of the Public Contract Code, requiring construction or repairs exceeding a specified amount upon public buildings to be done by contract, if the cost is under $150,000. This bill would make legislative findings and declarations as to the necessity of a special statute for Los Angeles County.
