Emergency medical services: reporting.
Summary
Existing law, the Emergency Medical Services System and the Prehospital Emergency Medical Care Personnel Act, governs local emergency medical services (EMS) systems, and establishes the Emergency Medical Services Authority, which is responsible for the coordination and integration of all state agencies concerning emergency medical services. The act requires a local EMS agency to plan, implement, and evaluate an EMS system, as specified, and authorizes the local EMS agency to develop and submit a plan to the authority for an EMS system according to prescribed guidelines. Existing law requires the authority to report to the Legislature on the effectiveness of the systems provided for in the act on or before January 1, 1984, and annually thereafter, as specified. This bill would instead require the authority to report that information to the Legislature every 5 years.
