Juveniles: crimes.

Existing law, the Youth Authority Act, governs the commitment of juvenile offenders to the Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation, Division of Juvenile Facilities. Existing law provides that the purpose of those provisions is to protect society from the consequences of criminal activity. Existing law requires community restoration, victim restoration, and offender training and treatment to be substituted for retributive punishment and to be directed toward the correction and rehabilitation of young persons who have committed public offenses. This bill would make technical, nonsubstantive changes to that provision.
