Health and care facilities: CPR.
Summary
Existing law regulates long-term health care facilities, community care facilities, adult day health care centers, and residential care facilities. A person who violates these provisions is guilty of a crime, except as specified. This bill would make it a misdemeanor for those facilities to have a policy that prohibits any employee from administering cardiopulmonary resuscitation, except as specified. By creating a new crime relating to these facilities, the bill would impose a state-mandated local program. The California Constitution requires the state to reimburse local agencies and school districts for certain costs mandated by the state. Statutory provisions establish procedures for making that reimbursement. This bill would provide that no reimbursement is required by this act for a specified reason.
