Autonomous vehicles.
Summary
Existing law provides for the operation of autonomous vehicles, as defined, on public roads for testing purposes under specified circumstances, and requires the Department of Motor Vehicles to adopt regulations no later than January 1, 2015, setting forth various requirements in that regard. This bill would authorize the City of Lancaster to research and develop autonomous public buses. This bill would make legislative findings and declarations as to the necessity of a special statute for the City of Lancaster.
