Ambulatory surgical clinics: workgroup.

Summary
Existing law defines "surgical clinic" as a clinic that provides ambulatory surgical care and is not part of a hospital or is a place that is owned, leased, or operated as a clinic or office by one or more physicians or dentists. This bill would require the State Department of Public Health to convene a workgroup, no later than February 1, 2010, to consider and develop recommendations for state oversight and monitoring of ambulatory surgical clinics, as defined, to ensure public health and safety. The bill would require the workgroup to submit its conclusions and recommendations to the appropriate policy committees of the Legislature no later than July 1, 2010.
