Vehicles: vehicle registration: required information.

(1) Existing law requires the owner of a vehicle to submit an application, furnished by the Department of Motor Vehicles, for the original or renewal registration of the vehicle. Existing law requires the application to include, among other things, the true, full name, business or residence and mailing address, and driver's license or identification card number, if any, of the owner, and the true, full name and business or residence or mailing address of the legal owner, if any. This bill would require the owner of the vehicle to provide, on the form furnished by the department, his or her residence address or, where the vehicle is owned by a business, a business address, and a mailing address. (2) Existing law requires the department, upon registering a vehicle, to issue a registration card to the owner. Existing law requires the registration card to contain on its face, among other things, the name and residence or business address or mailing address of the owner and of the legal owner, if any. This bill would instead require the registration card to contain on its face, among other things, the name, residence address or, where the vehicle is owned by a business, a business address of the owner and the legal owner, if any.
