Instructional materials: California Student Safety and Violence Prevention Act of 2000.

Existing law, known as the California Student Safety and Violence Prevention Act of 2000, provides, among other things, that it is the policy of the state to afford all persons in public school and postsecondary institutions equal rights and opportunities in those institutions. The act further prohibits persons in designated categories from being subjected to discrimination, on the basis of their status as part of that category, in any program or activity conducted by those institutions. The act also provides that nothing in its provisions requires the inclusion of any curriculum, textbook, presentation, or other material in any program or activity conducted by an educational institution or postsecondary educational institution. This bill would additionally declare that nothing in the California Student Safety and Violence Prevention Act of 2000 requires the exclusion of any curriculum, textbook, presentation, or other material in any program or activity conducted by an educational institution or postsecondary educational institution.
