Vehicle rental agreements: waivers.
Summary
Existing law governs the contract terms of an agreement for the rental of a passenger vehicle. Existing law authorizes a rental company to sell a damage waiver subject to rate limitations that are determined by reference to the manufacturer's suggested retail price (MSRP) of the vehicle. This bill would revise the rate limitations on damage waivers sold by a rental company by deleting the reference to the vehicle's MSRP and instead imposing limits on the rate on the basis of the vehicle's class.
