State government; procurement code, further exceptions provided for volunteer fire departments and rescue squads

HB 147 modifies the state procurement code regarding purchases made by volunteer fire departments and rescue squads. Currently, these organizations are subject to the state's general procurement regulations. This bill would exempt volunteer fire departments and rescue squads from the state procurement code. Instead, their purchases of supplies, services, and professional services would be governed by local competitive bidding laws, similar to the rules already applied to district attorneys and sheriffs.
