Marengo County; coroner and deputy coroner, compensation and travel expense

This bill updates compensation rules for the Marengo County coroner and allows the county to hire a deputy coroner. It increases the coroner's monthly expense allowance to $1,000 and sets a mileage reimbursement rate of $0.22 per mile, effective October 1, 2024. The legislation also authorizes the county commission to establish an expense allowance for a deputy coroner and permits annual adjustments to these payments starting in fiscal year 2025. These changes replace any previous expense and mileage allowances that might have been available under state law.
