This bill modifies Alabama's public school grading system by excluding the test scores of students transferring from nonpublic schools for their first three years in the new school. When calculating annual letter grades for schools and districts, the academic performance of these transfer students will not be counted during that initial three-year period. The legislation aims to ensure that incoming transfer students are not penalized in school ratings due to factors outside the public school's control, such as prior education gaps. Once a transfer student completes three years of enrollment, their academic achievement scores will again be included in the school's grade calculation.
