Allowable train lengths.

This bill limits train lengths in Wyoming to 8,500 feet or the shortest passing track/siding length on any route, whichever is shorter, and prohibits trains from routinely blocking intersections for over 10 minutes. Railroad companies operating in Wyoming must comply with these rules, facing fines of $500-$1,000 per foot for exceeding limits, or up to $250,000 for gross negligence causing injury. Penalties collected are deposited into the state highway fund. The law takes effect July 1, 2023.
