Healthcare professionals-right to prescribe medication.

This bill (SF 1012) requires pharmacists in Wyoming to fill prescriptions for any medication prescribed to treat COVID-19 by a licensed prescriber. It protects both pharmacists who fill such prescriptions and prescribers who recommend medications they reasonably believe could treat COVID-19, from disciplinary action by licensing boards. The law specifically excludes Schedule I/II controlled substances (per federal or Wyoming law) from these protections. It applies to all licensed healthcare professionals in Wyoming prescribing or dispensing COVID-19 treatments as defined in state law. The bill was introduced in 2021 but failed committee consideration.
