The word 'placed' was changed to 'assigned' in the requirement that students with disabilities in grades K-6 cannot be regularly placed in settings where the age range exceeds four years, unless an IEP team approves an exception.

The maximum age range for students with disabilities in grades K-6 was increased from three years to four years.

The rule now explicitly applies to all educational settings, including nongeneral settings, whereas the original draft focused primarily on nongeneral settings.

A specific effective date of July 1, 2027, was added to the substitute version.
