The compensation amount changed from a flat 66% of the spouse's wage to the lowest of three values: 66.6% of the spouse's wage, 80% of the state average weekly wage, or the injured officer's own weekly compensation rate.

The requirement for a medical recommendation was strengthened from needing certification that the officer needs help for 'more than seven consecutive days' to simply needing a recommendation for 'full-time' in-home spousal care.

The maximum duration of benefits was changed from a fixed 12 weeks with possible extensions to a hard cap of 12 weeks or until a full-time live-in caregiver is provided, whichever occurs first.

A new exclusion was added stating that no compensation is allowed if a health care provider has recommended or ordered in-home care by a licensed professional.

The specific condition requiring the officer to need assistance for more than seven consecutive days was removed, replaced by a general requirement for full-time care.
