Directsthe Joint Commission on Health Care (JCHC) to study policy solutionsto the Commonwealth's fentanyl crisis. The resolution directs JCHCto (i) study the causes of the rise in fentanyl prevalence and fentanyloverdoses in the Commonwealth, (ii) study the impact of the risein fentanyl prevalence and fentanyl overdoses in the Commonwealthon Virginians and the Commonwealth's health care system, (iii) studyand provide insight into the fentanyl crisis within the context ofother drug crises and addiction trends in recent history, and (iv)establish and make policy recommendations related to reducing theprevalence of fentanyl in the Commonwealth and reducing the numberof fentanyl overdoses in the Commonwealth. The resolution requiresJCHC to complete its meetings for the first year by November 30,2024, and for the second year by November 30, 2025, and to submit to the Division of Legislative Automated Systems an executive summaryof its findings and recommendations no later than the first day ofthe next Regular Session of the General Assembly for each year.
