Summary
Constitutional amendment (first reference);real property tax exemption; surviving spouses of service memberswho died while serving or from a service-connected injury or illness.Provides that the General Assembly may by general law exempt fromtaxation the real property of a surviving spouse of (i) a memberof the armed services who died while serving or (ii) a veteran whodied from a service-connected disability or illness. Under a currentconstitutional provision, only the surviving spouse of a member of the armed forces who was killed in action is eligible for the realproperty tax exemption.
