Joint resolution relating to State lands transactions in Jamaica State Park and Coolidge State Forest

This bill authorizes the Vermont Department of Forests, Parks and Recreation to exchange land parcels with private landowners to resolve access issues and improve public access at Jamaica State Park and Coolidge State Forest. At Jamaica State Park, the state would transfer a 24.7-acre parcel to Peter Winslow in exchange for acquiring a 5.4-acre lot that blocks public access to the West River Trail, while retaining a right-of-way for public and forest management access. At Coolidge State Forest, the state would transfer a 102-acre parcel to Jaime Ellertson in exchange for acquiring another 102-acre parcel and a 400-foot-wide trail easement to Old Baldy Mountain, while also eliminating private development rights on a nearby 160-acre parcel. The bill requires the Commissioner of Forests, Parks and Recreation to obtain General Assembly approval before completing these land transactions.
