Carbon Dioxide System Amendments

Requires businesses servicing carbon dioxide systems (100+ pounds capacity) to hold a state license starting January 1, 2027.

Requires individuals servicing carbon dioxide systems to hold a state certification starting January 1, 2027, with exceptions for fire officers and supervised trainees.

Defines 'carbon dioxide system' to include appliances, pipes, tubing, fittings, signage, and gas detection equipment connected to the system.

Directs the Utah Fire Prevention Board to establish rules, application forms, and fees for the new licensing and certification program.

Sets the effective date for the new licensing and certification requirements as January 1, 2027.

Defines 'carbon dioxide system' as any system storing, using, or dispensing carbon dioxide with a capacity of 100 pounds or more, including associated appliances and piping.

Mandates that any person engaging in the business of servicing carbon dioxide systems must hold a license from the state fire marshal.

Requires individuals servicing these systems to obtain state certification, with exceptions for fire officers and trainees supervised by a certified individual for their first 45 business days.

Directs the Utah Fire Prevention Board to create rules, application forms, and fee structures for the new licensing and certification program.

Sets the effective date of the new requirements to May 6, 2026.
