Financial Disclosure Revisions

The exemption allowing corporations to avoid reporting expenditures to other reporting entities was narrowed; corporations must now report these contributions unless the total amount exceeds $100,000 or the recipient is a candidate, judge, or officeholder receiving over $25,000.

A new Section 2 was added to establish that the bill takes effect on May 7, 2025.

Minor text corrections were made, such as changing 'EachA corporation' to 'Each corporation' and renumbering subsections to fix structural issues.

Removed provisions that narrowed exemptions for corporations from reporting campaign expenditures when made to entities required to report receipt of those expenditures.

Added requirement for the lieutenant governor to provide search functionality on the campaign finance disclosure website to identify contributions or expenditures made by a specific person.

Changed the effective date from May 7, 2025 to January 1, 2026.

Changed the affected Utah Code section from 20A-11-701.5 (corporate reporting) to 20A-11-103 (general notice and filing requirements).
