Strengthening Support for American Manufacturing Act

This bill (S 99) requires the U.S. Department of Commerce to conduct a comprehensive study of its manufacturing and supply chain programs. Specifically, the Secretary must produce a report within one year identifying all relevant Commerce offices, assessing their duties and effectiveness, and pinpointing gaps or duplication in efforts related to critical supply chains (like defense, health, and energy sectors) and manufacturing innovation. The study will be conducted with the National Academy of Public Administration and must include recommendations for improving coordination and efficiency across these programs.
