S 82 United States Senate · 119th Congress

Telework Reform Act of 2025

This bill clarifies definitions for federal telework and remote work, establishing clear terms like "agency-designated worksite" (the location where an employee normally works) and "approved alternative worksite" (a location approved for remote work). It requires annual reviews of telework arrangements by supervisors, limits travel reimbursement for employees working remotely within 75 miles of their agency-designated worksite, and mandates training for managers on telework policies. The bill also creates a noncompetitive appointment process for remote work positions for qualified veterans and spouses of military members, including law enforcement officers. Federal agencies must submit detailed reports on telework usage patterns, productivity impacts, and cost implications, with new regulations to be developed by the Office of Personnel Management.
