LINK Act

The LINK Act requires the Secretaries of Agriculture and the Interior to coordinate their computer systems so they can securely share data on federal land management, disaster response, and related business operations. To achieve this, the two agencies must create a joint plan that includes retiring outdated, isolated technology systems without disrupting current safety or mission capabilities. The law also mandates that these efforts include consultation with Native American tribes and ensure protections for tribal data sovereignty. Finally, the agencies are required to update their systems and begin implementing the new interoperability plan within one year of the bill's enactment.
