AIPAC Act

This bill, known as the AIPAC Act, amends the Foreign Agents Registration Act to require certain U.S.-based organizations to register as foreign agents if their lobbying efforts primarily advance the political or economic interests of a foreign country. Under the new rules, groups must disclose this alignment to the public even if they do not receive direct funding or instructions from that foreign government, provided there is clear evidence of coordination or advocacy matching the foreign nation's diplomatic goals. The legislation also allows any U.S. citizen to file a complaint with the Department of Justice to investigate potential violations of these expanded registration requirements. To ensure clarity, the Attorney General must issue public guidance with specific examples and compliance instructions within 180 days of the bill's enactment.
