Homegrown Defense Act of 2026

The Homegrown Defense Act of 2026 requires the Department of Defense Inspector General to audit how well the military follows rules about buying domestic food and agricultural items. These audits must happen within 90 days of the law's passage and continue every three months to check compliance with existing federal procurement standards. After each audit, the Inspector General must submit a report detailing the findings to the Armed Services committees in both the House and Senate.
