Mono Lake Kootzaduka’a Tribe Recognition Act

This bill officially recognizes the Mono Lake Kootzaduka’a Tribe as a federally recognized tribe. It grants the Tribe and its enrolled members access to all federal programs, services, and benefits available to recognized tribes, regardless of whether they live near a reservation. The Tribe gains hunting and fishing rights on federal lands within their ancestral area in Mono and Inyo counties, California, and the Secretary of the Interior must identify land for the Tribe to hold in trust for government and economic development. The recognition does not affect existing rights or claims the Tribe held before the bill's enactment.
