SPIN Act

The SPIN Act amends a 1948 law to restrict how U.S. government-produced information intended for international audiences may be shared domestically. It prohibits disseminating such information within the United States, its territories, or possessions. However, it requires the Department of State to make this information available for examination only at its facilities, specifically to U.S. press associations, researchers, scholars, and Members of Congress upon request. The bill does not alter the content of foreign information but changes its domestic access rules.
