Global Criminal Justice Act
HR 2009, the Global Criminal Justice Act, establishes a new Office of Global Criminal Justice within the U.S. Department of State. This office advises the Secretary of State on war crimes, crimes against humanity, and genocide; coordinates U.S. policy and resources (diplomatic, legal, economic) to prevent atrocities, support prosecutions, and assist victims; and works with international courts and partners to investigate and address global atrocities. The office will be led by an Ambassador-at-Large appointed by the President with Senate approval. It directly affects U.S. foreign policy implementation and coordination with international justice mechanisms.
