SHIELD U Act

The SHIELD U Act authorizes federal, state, and local law enforcement to detect, identify, and mitigate drone threats at commercial airports and within state jurisdictions, requiring consultation with the FCC and NTIA for certain counter-drone equipment. It mandates airports to develop tactical response plans for drone threats, including threat level definitions and procedures to minimize collateral damage. The bill allows airports to purchase counter-drone equipment through airport improvement programs and requires annual updates to best practices for counter-drone activities. Additionally, it creates exceptions to communications laws to permit certain drone jamming technology when used in FCC consultation to address immediate safety threats.
