CREW Act

The CREW Act establishes a federal grant program to fund resilient infrastructure projects at urban waterfronts, directly affecting cities and states with designated waterfront areas. It provides competitive grants (minimum $30 million each) for projects like pedestrian walkways, flood protection seawalls, stormwater improvements, and traffic-calming measures to enhance safety, economic development, and climate resilience. To qualify, applicants must have an existing urban waterfront development plan (requiring public input and science-based flood risk analysis) demonstrating a need for at least $200 million in infrastructure investment. The program authorizes $300 million annually from 2027-2031 to support these improvements, focusing on public access, environmental quality, and protection against sea-level rise and extreme weather.
