Stop the Scroll Act

The Stop the Scroll Act requires major social media platforms to display a mental health warning label each time a U.S. user accesses the platform. The label must warn users about potential negative mental health impacts (like anxiety or addiction) and provide access to crisis resources, such as the 988 Suicide Lifeline. Platforms cannot hide these labels in terms of service, add distracting content, or let users disable them permanently - users must acknowledge the warning to proceed. The Federal Trade Commission and Health and Human Services will create specific label rules within 180 days, with enforcement including FTC penalties and state attorney general actions for noncompliance.
