Retreaded Truck Tire Jobs, Supply Chain Security and Sustainability Act of 2024
This bill creates a federal tax credit for businesses purchasing retreaded truck tires for heavy vehicles (over 14,000 lbs GVWR). The credit equals 30% of the tire's cost or $30 per tire, whichever is lower, but only for tires retreaded and purchased in the U.S. It also requires federal agencies to buy retreaded tires from the GSA schedule when available instead of new tires. The tax credit expires after December 31, 2027, and applies to tires placed in service after December 31, 2024. The policy directly affects U.S. trucking companies, tire retreading businesses, and federal procurement practices.
