Protect Our Mail Act of 2024
This bill prevents the U.S. Postal Service from closing, consolidating, or downgrading processing centers without meeting specific conditions. It blocks such actions if a center already met 93% on-time delivery for 2-day mail and 90.3% for 3-5 day mail in the prior year, or if the closure would leave no center within 125 miles in the state. The Postal Service must first submit the proposal to the Postal Regulatory Commission (PRC), which must review geographic impacts and confirm no negative effect on service standards within 180 business days. Affected customers also gain 180 days to appeal closures through the PRC.
