S 3618 United States Senate · 118th Congress

Mauritania TPS Act of 2024

This bill designates Mauritania for Temporary Protected Status (TPS), allowing eligible Mauritanian nationals already in the U.S. to live and work legally for 18 months. It establishes requirements: applicants must have continuously resided in the U.S. since the bill’s enactment, be admissible as immigrants (with exceptions), and register with U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services. The bill also permits limited travel abroad with prior approval from the Department of Homeland Security and imposes a $360 application fee (with waiver options). This provides temporary protection from deportation and work authorization for affected individuals.
