American Made Pharmaceuticals Act of 2023

The American Made Pharmaceuticals Act of 2023 establishes a 7-year demonstration program to test giving preferential treatment to drugs manufactured in the United States under Medicare, Medicaid, and CHIP. The program would require federal health programs to use specific tools - such as lower patient cost-sharing, better formulary placement, or waived rebates - for qualifying U.S. manufactured drugs. To qualify, drugs must be made in the U.S. by companies meeting sourcing, transparency, and supply chain resilience standards. The program will run in at least 8 states and require annual reports to Congress on its implementation and outcomes.
