IMAGINE Act of 2023

The IMAGINE Act of 2023 establishes an Interagency Innovative Materials Standards Task Force to coordinate Federal standards for innovative materials in infrastructure projects. It creates competitive grant programs for "Innovative Material Innovation Hubs" at universities and research centers to develop and test new materials, and sets up specific grant programs for bridge and water infrastructure projects using innovative materials. The bill also amends existing infrastructure programs to increase Federal funding for innovative materials and technologies, with $65 million annually for bridge projects and $65 million annually for water infrastructure projects. These provisions aim to extend infrastructure service life, improve performance, reduce costs, and enhance sustainability across the nation's infrastructure network.
