S 3059 United States Senate · 118th Congress

REAL Health Providers Act

This bill requires Medicare Advantage plans (which provide health coverage to seniors) to maintain accurate, publicly available online provider directories. It mandates quarterly verification of provider information, removal of outdated listings within 5 business days, and clear indications when information may be outdated. If a patient is directed to a provider listed in the directory but not actually in-network, the plan must cover the same cost-sharing as if the provider were in-network. These changes aim to improve access to care by ensuring beneficiaries can reliably find participating providers for covered services like mental health care.
