Land Grant Research Prioritization Act of 2023

This bill directs the U.S. Department of Agriculture to prioritize specific research areas within existing land-grant university grant programs. It adds four new focus areas: mechanized harvesting technologies for specialty crops, agricultural AI applications to boost specialty crop production, invasive species management (including biocontrol), and sustainable aquaculture development. The bill affects land-grant colleges and universities (as defined in federal law) by requiring them to emphasize these research priorities when applying for relevant grants. It does not create new funding but shifts how current research grants are allocated. The changes apply to programs under the 1990 Food, Agriculture, Conservation, and Trade Act.
