S 1505 United States Senate · 118th Congress

Tim’s Act

Tim's Act establishes new pay structures and benefits for Federal wildland firefighters employed by the Department of Agriculture (Forest Service) or Department of the Interior, including Tribal Firefighters who meet specific qualifications. The bill creates special base pay rates that increase General Schedule rates by 1.5% to 27% depending on grade, and provides 50% premium pay for designated sleep and rest periods during wildfire incidents. It also requires the creation of a public database tracking cancer and cardiovascular disease among wildland firefighters, establishes mental health support programs including 7 days of paid leave annually, and improves retirement benefits for these workers. The law mandates annual pay adjustments based on the Consumer Price Index and requires reports on pay comparability with non-Federal firefighters in their areas.
