HR 9499 United States House · 118th Congress

Securing the Integrity of Ethics in Government Act

This bill requires the U.S. Agency for Global Media (USAGM) to verify foreign academic credentials for employees in positions above GS-11 (or equivalent). It mandates that applicants and current employees provide documentation through approved credential evaluation services or directly from foreign institutions to confirm degree validity and prevent fraud. The bill also establishes new reporting requirements for USAGM’s broadcasting activities and creates a Special Investigator to review hiring processes, oversight, and security practices at the agency. These changes apply specifically to USAGM staff and take effect January 1, 2025.
