HR 8640 United States House · 118th Congress

National Interagency Seed and Restoration Center Establishment Act

This bill establishes the National Interagency Seed and Restoration Center to coordinate the development and use of native plant materials for ecological restoration across the United States. The Center will work with federal agencies, Indian Tribes, Native Hawaiian organizations, and land managers to prioritize genetically appropriate native plant species for restoring ecosystems damaged by wildfires, invasive species, or natural disasters. It creates ecoregional hubs in each state to assess local restoration needs, coordinate seed collection and storage, and provide land managers with appropriate plant materials. The bill authorizes $100 million annually for fiscal years 2025-2029 to support these efforts and requires regular reports to Congress on progress.
