HR 8207 United States House · 118th Congress

Choose Medicare Act

HR 8207, the Choose Medicare Act, would create a new Medicare Part E public health plan available in individual, small group, and large group markets. The plan must provide gold-level coverage including all essential health benefits and reproductive services, with premiums set to cover both health benefits and administrative costs. It establishes a $6,700 annual out-of-pocket limit for 2026 (increasing annually with inflation) and changes premium assistance to use gold-level plans as the benchmark. The bill also expands protections against excessive insurance rates and requires employers without affordable coverage to refer employees to health insurance navigators.
