HR 7497 United States House · 118th Congress

Restoring Integrity to America’s Elections Act

This bill would reform the Federal Election Commission (FEC) by reducing its membership from 6 to 5 members, with no more than 2 from the same political party. It eliminates the automatic seats for the Senate Secretary and House Clerk, requires a Blue Ribbon Advisory Panel to recommend commissioners, and gives the Chair more administrative authority. The bill also changes enforcement procedures to require majority votes for certain actions and revises complaint handling to provide more transparency. These changes aim to streamline the FEC's operations and potentially increase its effectiveness in enforcing election laws.
