HR 7477 United States House · 118th Congress

Ensuring Military Access to Higher Education Benefits Act of 2024

This bill requires the Department of Defense to create a data-sharing agreement with the Department of Education within one year of enactment. It directly helps current and former active-duty military service members and civilian employees who qualify for Public Service Loan Forgiveness (PSLF) under the Higher Education Act. The agreement will automatically certify their employment periods starting October 1, 2007, to meet PSLF eligibility requirements. This change simplifies the process for military personnel to access loan forgiveness benefits they've earned through their service. The bill focuses on removing administrative barriers in the existing loan forgiveness program.
