Strengthening American Nuclear Competitiveness Act

This bill requires the U.S. Department of Energy to produce a report assessing the competitiveness of American nuclear commerce, comparing U.S. regulations and practices with those of other countries like China, France, and Japan. It directs updates to the process for determining which countries are "generally authorized destinations" for nuclear commerce, with annual reviews of the list. The bill also modifies licensing restrictions to allow certain U.S. allies to invest in domestic nuclear projects under specific conditions, and requires the Nuclear Regulatory Commission to report on licensing challenges for nuclear energy used in non-electric applications like industrial processes and hydrogen production. Additionally, it extends the Price-Anderson Act (which limits nuclear liability) through 2065 and increases liability coverage limits.
