HR 4680 United States House · 118th Congress

Train More Doctors Act of 2023

The Train More Doctors Act of 2023 extends the period for certain teaching hospitals to train resident doctors under federal funding rules. Hospitals that started new medical residency programs between 2018 and 2021 and were disrupted by the pandemic will get a two-year extension to their 5-year training cap period. This adjustment allows these hospitals to count more new residents toward their federal funding limit without hitting the cap sooner, helping address doctor shortages. The bill directly affects teaching hospitals that began new residency programs in the specified timeframe and faced pandemic-related challenges.
