Agricultural Access to Addiction and Mental Health Care Act

This bill directs the U.S. Department of Agriculture to study mental health and addiction care access for farmers and ranchers facing stressors like drought, extreme weather, market instability, and misinformation. The study will examine provider availability in rural areas, barriers to care (financial, geographic, cultural), and effective strategies such as telehealth expansion, peer support programs, and stigma-reduction efforts. It requires the USDA to report findings within 180 days and allocates $1 million annually (2024-2027) to fund the study. The bill does not create new services but aims to identify pathways to improve existing support systems for agricultural communities.
